Yes, I know, it’s been a while. Don’t worry, I wasn’t in labor or anything. That would be awkward.
Let’s just skip the long-winded explanation as to why I haven’t written and dive into the exciting news I have for you all. Sound good? K, thanks.
As most of you know, a little over two years ago, I stood on the edge of my window deciding if I wanted to be alive anymore. I was 254 lbs, angry at the world, and hated everything about myself.
I ate terribly, drank religiously, and never exercised. Perfect combo, right? I would sweat walking upstairs, so the elevator and I became the best of friends. But, like that elevator, I’ve had my ups and downs ?
What most of you don’t know is that the morning after my rock bottom, I stumbled into Chuze Fitness.
Among the endless list of things I hated about myself, my weight, health, and physical appearance were at the top of the list. So, I started there.
The mere thought of walking into LA Fitness or 24 was out of the question. Those gyms terrified me. And I couldn’t bear the thought of more rejection.
So, on a whim, I ‘choze’ Chuze. And boy am I ever grateful I did.
If you don’t know anything about Chuze or what they stand for, here’s a little taste of what they’re all about…
When I walked in that door, I was welcomed by the kindest humans I’ve ever met. They weren’t intimidating or overbearing, they simply celebrated the fact that I was there. It felt like a slow-motion scene out of a movie.
I’m not kidding. It was like I just won the National Championship or something…
They didn’t have the slightest clue that I was the most depressed I’d ever been and had nearly taken my life the night before. The Chuze family took part in saving my life that day.
I went from being 254 lbs, angry at the world, and hating myself – to a healthy 200 lbs, ambitious to serve this world, and at peace with who I am.
AND GET THIS…
As if saving my life wasn’t enough, they just decided to give me the gift of a lifetime.
Earlier this month, I was asked to speak at their culture training. I honestly had no idea what to expect. The only information given was, “just come share your story.”
My reply – “You mean the story of how Chuze Fitness is the kindest group of humans I’ve ever met? Sure, I can tell that story.”
When I entered the room, I was welcomed by staff members, district managers, and… THE CO-FOUNDER HIMSELF, Nick Barshick.
I was speechless. Which isn’t a good thing when you’re there to give a speech.
Somehow, I was able to find my words and tell the story of how walking in a gym, on a whim, gave me my life back. And then, something extraordinary happened that changed my life forever.
Nick walked over, hugged me, and presented me with a Lifetime Membership to Chuze!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Name one other gym that would go to those lengths to express the love and compassion they have for their members?
I’ve never been filled with more joy in all my life. It was a moment I will remember until the day I die.
I’d like to take this time to personally thank Chuze Fitness for doing what you do. It may seem like you’re just showing up to work at a gym, but little do you know, you are changing someone’s life and giving them a reason to keep on living. I know this to be true because you did it for me.
In closing, if you’re anything like me and you have absolutely no idea where to start, I suggest you find a Chuze Fitness and have them throw you the celebration of a lifetime. It will be the moment you’ve all but waited for.
I am eternally grateful that I ‘choze’ life and stumbled into Chuze Fitness that day. It has truly made all the difference.
And look, I even got a tan ?
That’s all I got for now. Stay tuned, friends ✌️
